International travelers experience adverse cardiopulmonary health effects even after short stay in polluted cities

Green Car Congress

Most were visiting family in cities with consistently high levels of air pollution, including Ahmedabad and New Delhi, India; Rawalpindi, Pakistan; and Xian, China. Funding for the study was provided by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences grants ES000260 and ES007324, an Air Waste and Management Association 2017 Scholarship, and an NYU College of Global Public Health grant.

Global CO2 emissions stalled for the third year in a row

Green Car Congress

Emissions are increasing in other developing countries: 6% for Indonesia and Malaysia; 9% for Pakistan and 12% for the Philippines. CH 4 is mainly generated by agricultural activities, the production of coal and gas, as well as waste treatment and disposal. The annual assessment of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the JRC and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) confirms that CO 2 emissions have stalled for the third year in a row.

International study identifies 14 key measures to reduce methane and black carbon emissions; reduction in projected global mean warming of ~0.5 °C by 2050

Green Car Congress

Seven measures target CH 4 emissions, covering coal mining, oil and gas production, long-distance gas transmission, municipal waste and landfills, wastewater, livestock manure, and rice paddies. Iran, Pakistan and Jordan would experience the most improvement in agricultural production. National benefits of the CH 4 plus BC measures versus the reference scenario.
