The Toyota Prius has been named Green Car of the Year by Professional Driver magazine. Despite a growing number of manufacturers joining the hybrid market, it is the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle and its ever-evolving line of variants that continues to collect the accolades.

British motor magazine Autocar reports that Toyota is working on a sporting coupe version of its Prius as a direct competitor to the sporty Honda CR-Z. Although it was formerly thought that Toyota had rejected the idea of expanding the Prius range, Honda's ongoing struggle to claw back more hybrid market-share has apparently.

Three years ago, the magazine Popular Mechanics even wrote an article prodding the auto industry for not building the 100 m.p.g. They reality always seems to be just a few years away, the magazine complained. Whats more, mainstream consumers wont be able to buy it when it comes to market. Right Now can be seen here.
