The SMMT reports that new car production in the UK slid by 37% in July to a new low of just 53,438 vehicles. The July production for the UK market declined -38.7% Petrol and Diesel combined take 52%. Looking at the rolling annual output we can see that UK car production is grim news for the country and the tax man.

The pressure is on car manufacturers to take new emission targets seriously - and it appears that the message is getting across with reports suggesting a hybrid version of the Land Rover LRX concept has been confirmed for production. The technology is expected to cost around $650million to develop.
