Range anxiety has been the bugaboo of EVs. Fortunately it’s becoming less of an issue now the newest EVs have a range of up to 300 miles on a full battery charge. Consequently, range anxiety and charging locations are of little concern. Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight.

All plug-in cars these days come with a 120-volt charge cord. This will actually be sufficient for many if not most Volt drivers, and quite a few LEAF drivers. An empty Volt pack will take 10 hours to fully recharge; an empty LEAF about 20 hours. And where are you going next? Not because I always charge at 120V mind you.

GM has been saying for a while now that they had picked their supplier for the LiIon battery in the Volt, but they weren’t prepared to announce who it was. We’re showing 100 percent charge and a range of 475km. Our Taycan RWD rides on steel coil springs, not the air suspension of every other in the range. I’ve still got 200km range remaining so have seen no reason to plug the Taycan in yet. I start with 54 percent charge and 250km range. 2022 Porsche Taycan RWD.
