The University of Wyoming (UW) has received a $2 million grant from coal giant Peabody Energy to create the Peabody Energy Clean Coal Technology Laboratory in the UW Energy Resources Center in Laramie. This gift will be doubled by the Wyoming State Legislature matching fund.

Fifteen states will utilize Initial Grant funding to set up methane measuring capacity while 6 states—including California, Mississippi and West Virginia—have committed to measuring methane before and immediately after remediation.
