FCA Melfi plant preparing for production of Jeep Renegade PHEV for 2020

The FCA Melfi, Italy plant is beginning preparations to produce the Jeep Renegade Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) scheduled for market launch in early 2020. The Renegade PHEV will be produced alongside the Renegade and 500X full combustion engine products that are currently produced at the Melfi vehicle assembly plant.

Chrysler Group withdraws test PHEV fleet to upgrade battery packs after overheating issues; to use a different chemistry

On Friday, Chrysler Group LLC announced it was withdrawing from service its test fleet of plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (PHEVs) to conduct a battery-pack upgrade. No similar issues have occurred with 23 plug-in hybrid minivans deployed as part of a parallel project (also with Electrovaya batteries, ( earlier post ).

Volvo marks 17 straight months of growth as EV sales lead the way in January

Volvo’s all-electric model lead the growth, with global EV sales up 17% in January. Although Volvo’s Recharge model sales (EV and PHEV) fell 3% to 19,171, fully electric vehicles continued to see higher demand. PHEV sales fell 15% YOY in Europe to 7,471, but Volvo saw a 1% increase in the US to 1,615.
