Harley-Davidson, the legendary and revered American manufacturer of motorcycles, announced that it is establishing LiveWire as a separate electric motorcycle brand on July 8,2021, just in time for the first of nine outdoor International Motorcycle Shows. The electrical plug-in station at work has been lonely over the past few months and I'll be psyched to get the car back on the road. About a month ago, I sold my old '94 gasoline Saturn wagon and purchased an '03 Subaru Outback. With gas prices going up, I'm even more eager to fire up the 914. Cheers, Tim.

There is more to Dan Neil's recent LA Times column than a favorable review of yet another gasoline-only hybrid. In December, Nissan announced its "Green Program 2010," projecting a line of hybrids, plug-in hybrids and all-electric cars utilizing lithium-ion batteries of its own manufacture. Calls it a "Camry hybrid in tight jeans."

The school already conducts research into the development of the no-gas vehicles. State Chancellor James Oblinger said he expects to develop a battery that can power a vehicle without the aid of gasoline within the next two to five years. General Motors is also on the plug-in bandwagon with its Saturn Vue Green Line.
