Magnetic-Confinement Fusion Without the Magnets

Cars That Think

Despite these gains, though, traditional magnetic-confinement fusion is still years away from fulfilling nuclear fusion’s promise of generating abundant and carbon-free electricity. But tokamaks aren’t the only path to fusion power. The company produced its first fusion reactions the very next year. Seattle-based.

Toyota and DIFFER partner on direct solar production of hydrogen from humid air, rather than water

Green Car Congress

The LIFT (Launchpad for Innovative Future Technology) research proposal has now been rewarded a grant from the NWO ENW PPS Fund. When hydrogen is combined with oxygen in a fuel cell, the energy is released in the form of electricity, with clean water as the only emission. Working with gas instead of liquid has several advantages.

Researchers using ORNL Jaguar supercomputer for simulations to develop improved gasifiers

Green Car Congress

This ability to finely resolve relevant structures inside a dense, reactive gas-solid system is not only unique, but also necessary to accelerate the commercial deployment of advanced gasification technology. Multiphase refers to the process of changing a solid (in this case, coal) to a gas (syngas). NETL funded the research.
