The halfway stage has been reached in the three-year fleet trial of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid in the London area. Since August 2008, ten light-duty trucks equipped with hybrid drive systems have clocked around 265,000 km (164,663 miles) in eight fleets operated by customers. As efforts continue to make London the electric vehicle capital of Europe, Transport for London has added four Mitsubishi i-MiEVs to its fleet.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has sold more than 500 units of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck model in Japan to date. Daimler AG owns 85 percent of MFTBC; the remaining 15 percent is held by various companies within the Mitsubishi Group. MFTBC is part of the Daimler Trucks division of Daimler AG.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is to be used to promote London mayor Boris Johnson’s electric vehicle charging network, Source London, which is to go live in Spring 2011. Initial members of the C40 Electric Vehicle Network are : Bogota, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Copenhagen, Delhi, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Toronto, Sao Paulo, Seoul and Sydney. The four vehicle manufacturers are BYD, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Nissan and Renault.
