The Barstow International Gateway will be an approximately 4,500-acre new integrated rail facility on the west side of Barstow, consisting of a rail yard, intermodal facility and warehouses for transloading freight from international containers to domestic containers. BNSF Railway plans to invest more than $1.5 BNSF in California.

While use cases for battery electric and fuel cell electric powertrains are promising, the pairing of green hydrogen in the proven technology of internal combustion engines provides an important complement to future zero emissions solutions.

Traditional fluid testing tools, however, were not developed to effectively analyze lubricant properties in electrified environments. An internally funded SwRI project modified a commercial tribology testing machine to more effectively analyze the friction and wear associated with lubricants formulated for electric vehicles.
