The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has selected Delphi Automotive PLC as a strategic partner to implement autonomous mobility concepts. Delphi’s technology solution is vehicle-agnostic and can be applied in passenger cars, buses, commercial vehicles, purpose-built mobility pods and electric vehicles.

Channel NewsAsia recently reported on the case of a Tesla Model S owner in Singapore who, rather than receiving the Carbon Emissions-based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) rebate he expected of S$15,000 (US$10,841) was hit with a CEVS surcharge of S$15,000 for having high carbon emissions. Singapore revised CEVS bands. Rebates/Surcharges.

The expansion of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD continues in earnest after the company signed a memorandum of understanding with SMRT Corporation in Singapore. The two will now enter discussions about the possibility of establishing a joint venture to distribute BYD’s eBUSes and e6 taxis.

As many as 46% of consumers worldwide would not buy a car again if they had self-driving taxis, otherwise known as robocabs, at their disposal at lower cost. Moreover, 37% of consumers are already considering buying an electric vehicle for their next car. The USA ranks last here with 22%. Germany follows closely with almost 47%.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s business partner in Taiwan China Motors Corp (CMC), Mitsubishi Corporation, (MC) and the Hsinchu County government in northwestern Taiwan have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the promotion of electric vehicles (EVs).

The NV200 was recently chosen as the next generation New York taxi ( earlier post ), with the prospects for an electric version beginning in 2017. Nissan Motor Co., will carry out a test in Japan.
