Tale of Two 2,000-mile EV Rural Road Trips A Two-Country Kia EV6 Experience Last year I set out to see what it would be like to take a couple of long road trips in a Kia EV6–one in the UK and the other in the U.S. Fortunately it’s becoming less of an issue now the newest EVs have a range of up to 300 miles on a full battery charge.

The StreetScooters have a 905 kg payload and an eight-meter cube box, enabling Milk & More to carry 860 pints of milk at a time, as well as an extensive range of locally sourced products from bacon and bread to cereals and juice. The new floats have a 40 kWh battery pack supporting a range of up to 75 miles.

To put this into context, the typical EV now costs just £12 to charge up to 80%, or just 6.74p per mile. In direct comparison, filling up the tank of a petrol vehicle to the same level would set you back by an astonishing £46.40 – that’s 13.85p per mile!

gCO 2 e/MJ for diesel. After the sugarcane has been crushed, the cane juice is filtered, treated with calcium hydroxide, decanted, and then sent to sugar production. This feedstock is transported 30 miles via heavy-duty truck from the refiner to the port for loading onto an ocean tanker. gCO 2 e/MJ and 98.03 gCO 2 e/MJ.

I got to see this a lot, since during our test week I took two 170-mile round trips to visit my family (in my COVID-19 bubble). kWh battery, tucked away under the car along the center tunnel, provides just 18 miles of all-electric motoring. I averaged 25 mpg over 364 miles of mostly freeway driving. Moving towards more juice.
