Good news for the forthcoming Lexus HS Hybrid as pre-orders smash the firm’s monthly sales target. According to reports in The Nikkei , the Toyota Motor Corporation has received about 1,500 pre-orders for the vehicles - that’s around three times more than its initial target. per cent of all RX models in June.

According to reports in The Nikkei , the Toyota Motor Corporation plans to begin the commercial production of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in 2012. The plug-ins will use lithium-ion batteries produced by Toyota’s joint venture with Panasonic Corporation, Panasonic Electric Vehicle Energy Company.

In Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) outlined the progress of development of its green technologies as well as its vehicle deployment plans through 2015. The plug-in version of the third-generation Toyota Prius will be open to leasing at the end of this year in Japan. Around 200 versions of the vehicle, equipped with a lithium-ion battery, will be made available and designated to government ministries, local governments and corporations.
