(In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.

This provision will not affect the regular use of Californians who already own gasoline vehicles. Recently, the California Air Resources Board voted to adopt a new regulation.

With a renewable electricity mix, that increases to about 50%. The electric motor and transmission unit are located in direct proximity to the driven rear axle.
