One week earlier, former Vice President Al Gore issued his well-received challenge to make the American grid 100% renewable in ten years.

Koji Sato speaks at a Tokyo press conference on April 7 2023 announcing Toyota’s ramped-up EV commitment. Toyota will “strengthen” hybrid sales and “increase” the number of plug-in hybrids it offers. The target is a 200km-plus driving range for PHEVs, which will be repositioned as the “the practical BEV”.

At its first digital ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Conference for investors and analysts, Mercedes-Benz announced aims to at least halve CO 2 emissions per passenger car over the lifecycle by the end of this decade compared to 2020 levels. Globally, the portfolio already includes six—and soon nine—all-electric models.
