Due to a sudden company relocation, my wife had no other choice but to drive to her office. They knew about hybrids and after a couple of times riding in our Prius, they decided to pull the trigger on two 2006s with 180k km (112k miles). What is it like to drive a hybrid? How did it all start? It was time to buy our first car.

Patrick Roth adapted his Ford Escort to run on electricity alone after conceiving the idea while running his hybrid Lexus. Paradox 1 - Soot: There's an apparent emissions paradox with plug-in hybrids (PHEV): Driving longer distances on battery power means more cold starts as the internal combustion engine (ICE) stops and starts up again after the batteries deplete. Third-party and DIY converters can't muck with every system on a car.
