Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is launching Clean High-Efficiency Diesel Engine VII (CHEDE-VII), the seventh phase of the industry’s longest-running diesel research consortium. Consortium members will select research topics related to low-emission, high-efficiency diesel engine technology.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently granted Ensyn Corporation ( earlier post ) Part 79 registration for its renewable diesel product, RFDiesel. FCC units are found in most refineries worldwide and are used to produce gasoline and diesel from vacuum gas oil (VGO).

The companies will provide matching funds and labor of their own. The fuel cells will do the work normally done by a small diesel engine, which keeps the cargo at the proper temperature while the trucks are making deliveries.
