Tests conducted by Titirici Group , a multidisciplinary research team based at Imperial College London, have found that a novel carbon nanotube electrode material derived from CO 2 —produced by Estonian nanotech company UP Catalyst ( earlier post )—enhances the cyclability of sodium-ion batteries.

Germany-based Akasol is manufacturing lithium-ion battery systems for Daimler subsidiary EvoBus. The leading European bus manufacturer plans to launch its new electric Citaro bus ( earlier post ) at the IAA Commercial Vehicles event in September. Series manufacturing of the Citaro electric bus starts this year.

Siemens has achieved a breakthrough by finishing its first full load engine tests for gas turbine blades completely produced using Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology. Furthermore, Siemens tested a new blade design with a completely revised and improved internal cooling geometry manufactured using the AM technology.

The first six vehicles will be based with customers in London and Copenhagen as part of the Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles ( HyFIVE ) demonstration project, partly funded by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking ( FCHJU ).
