announced that the 2012 Prius Plug-in has been approved for the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program ( CVRP ). Designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) and related clean vehicle technologies, the CVRP is a consumer incentive made available in addition to a $2,500 Federal Tax credit.

Canada is developing a Clean Fuel Standard that will cut emissions by 30 million tonnes in 2030. In the 2019 budget, the Government of Canada announced rebates of up to $5,000 for consumers on the purchase of zero-emission vehicles. Combined, these states and California constitute more than 40% of the US passenger vehicle market.

In 2005, the federal government created the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure tax credit for homeowners and business owners, which includes the installation of EV charging infrastructure per WattLogic. For simple installations, this tax credit will cover the entire cost of the project.
