This is a move that GM, Ford and whatever’s left of Chrysler should have made, but it’s too creative, too bold and too American for any of those legacy car companies to pull off in the 21st century. You might as well call most of the cars they’re selling “future clunkers.&# Really Ford? Are you kidding me?

We’re showing 100 percent charge and a range of 475km. Except there’s no wireless phone charging, annoyingly. I forget to remind them we’re not on solar so the emissions have just moved from the tailpipe to the polluting power station. Day 4: Let’s charge. Well, maybe that Bose audio.

The Karma, a luxury four-passenger sedan, can be recharged by plugging it in; it can then be driven on power from a battery alone for 50 miles. The Karma can be refueled quickly.)

At least GM sent this nifty printed banner explaining all about the new J1772 industry standard recharging plug. Ford and whatever it is they call Chrysler this week didn’t even bother to show up. Get to know Coulomb they make the CHARGEPOINT charging stations and they make them good. May I charge your EV sir?

Alfa Romeo Tonale – the Italian brand finally has a rechargeable car in its ranks in the form of the Tonale PHEV compact SUV. BMW M cars – they’re coming with hybrid drivetrains. And if we’re guessing, we reckon it could be called the Ranger Lightning (see above). Expect to see it Down Under in 2023.
