Yes, you get a plug-in hybrid setup. Now you can run it solely on electric power for up to 21 miles and plug it in to charge. Speaking of warning, we can’t say we didn’t warn you that this Jeep doesn’t come cheap. But if you have the scratch and the access to juice, it makes a strong argument for itself.

For ages, this writer used a gasoline-powered pressure washer, firm in the belief it ran better and more reliably than any cheap electric plug-in unit ever would. All the literature I could find failed to make much (official) mention of run time on a full charge but my experience so far has been very positive.

Plug-in vehicle sales are indeed increasing, with the LEAF and Volt each selling about 2500 units in June 2013. Workplace charging certainly isn’t a concern of Tesla S owners, but it should become the focus for getting drivers into EVs and PHEVs. Even with Level 1 charging at work, these become 100+ mile cars.

Coulomb Technologies unveiled San Francisco's first ChargePoint America charge stations yesterday in a Priority Parking lot along the Embarcadero. The charge stations and installations were paid for with federal stimulus and California Energy Commission grants won by Coulomb. Nissan LEAF buyers are excluded. But for whom?

We chatted while he finished charging his LEAF at the recently installed Quick Charger at the new Market Street Whole Foods in San Francisco. But now they are back on the fence, holding off on getting a plug-in car. Bill lives a good 60 miles from San Francisco, so he needs to get some juice to make his trip home after work.
