The PureTech family of engines is fitted on the Peugeot 108, 208, 308, 2008, 3008 and 5008, the Citroën C1, C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Cactus and C4 Picasso, the DS 3 and DS 4 and also the Dongfeng Peugeot 308S and 408. One of the key objectives was to limit mechanical losses through friction, which account for roughly 20% of the power consumed.

The hybrid has also achieved comparable MPG performance with that of the same model powered by Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries but at a significantly lower cost, ALABC said. The batteries supplied by Exide as part of the C3 Project performed well under the HEV screening test, especially at high temperatures.
