De Lijn, the public transport operator (PTO) in the Flemish part of Belgium, is ordering 44 new articulated plug-in e-hybrid buses; further, the operator confirmed the upgrade of 280 if its current hybrid buses into e-hybrids. De Lijn introduced its first hybrid buses in its fleet in 2009, and currently operates 530 hybrid buses.

UK-based Elektromotive has appointed The PluginCompany to install networks of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Belgium and Luxembourg. Installations at other LeasePlan locations will follow in 2010, supporting the company’s commitment to increasing the availability of low- and zero-emissions vehicles within its European fleets.

Volvo has received an order for 11 electric hybrid buses and 2 ABB automated electric bus fast-chargers to the city of Namur in Belgium with public transport authority and operator TEC. This is the largest order to date for the company’s electric bus system. TEC is buying the bus system as a turn-key solution.

When deployed in revenue service, the 10-bus fleet to be operated in Aberdeen will be Europe’s largest hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet. These will be used in 5 buses to be deployed in San Remo, Italy; 5 buses to be deployed in Flanders, Belgium; as well as 4 of the buses to be deployed in Aberdeen. City program.

Volvo Buses has secured its largest order yet for complete solutions for electric bus traffic. The Belgian cities of Charleroi and Namur have together ordered 90 Volvo 7900 Electric Hybrid buses as well as 12 charging stations. The buyer is public transport company TEC Group. The charging stations will be delivered by ABB.

As part of its e-mobility roadmap, MAN Truck & Bus is sending a fleet of demo e-buses to customers in five European countries this year. The fleet comprises 15 test vehicles, which will be deployed as part of everyday operations. The batteries are charged at the depot via a Combined Charging System plug (CCS).

This “plug and play” design will provide greater flexibility to meet varying delivery needs. The cargo eBike is part of a broader UPS strategy to continue to electrify its delivery fleet. This includes all-electric, hybrid electric, hydraulic hybrid, ethanol, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and propane.
