General Motors is working with communities such as San Francisco to develop a plan of action to establish the supporting technical and policy infrastructure required for broad commercialization of plug-in electric vehicles such as the upcoming Chevrolet Volt. The CMT-380 will debut at the LA Auto Show 2-13 December. We plan to finalize very soon a limited production plan, in part, based on interest received at the LA Auto Show. The University of California at Irvine and Argonne will assist Capstone in the development and testing of the fuel delivery system for the microturbine.

A new study sponsored by Indiana University concludes that President Obama’s vision of one million plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) on US roads by 2015 will require concentrated efforts action from all stakeholders— the auto industry, federal government, the scientific community, and consumers—to be realized.

The ChargePoint America project will collect data characterizing vehicle use and charging patterns, and Purdue University and Idaho National Labs will analyze the data. First, each region had to be on at least one of the participating automakers list of target regions where their vehicles will be for sale during the program period.

In 1990, California adopted a zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) requirement, mandating that the seven largest automotive companies in California “make available for sale” an increasing number of vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions. by about 1.9%. California has a much more ambitious long-term policy commitment to EVs.
