Thriev , a company offering zero-emission, chauffeured cars to corporate and private users in London, is adding 20. BYD e6 electric cars to the fleet. Last month, the Mayor of London announced that from 1 January 2018, all new taxis would have to be zero-emission capable in order to gain an operating licence.

BYD Ltd and Praco Didacol (BYD’s Colombian distribution partner) announced that BYD e6’s will be placed into Taxi service as of Q1 2013 in the Colombian capital Bogotá as a pilot. The District Government authorized this scalable all-electric taxi pilot in an effort to improve the air quality in Colombia’s dense cities.

After being selected through a public bidding process, BYD has delivered 500 battery-electric, e6 police vehicles to the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau this week. The BYD e6 reaches speeds of over 140 km/h (~87 mph) with a range of 300 km (187 miles), making it suited for the demands of police utility vehicles.

BYD, a company struggling to sell its e6 electric crossover in its home market, has decided it won''t be sold at all to private customers in the U.S. Instead, says the ChinaEV blog, the e6 will be a fleet-only vehicle in the U.S, as the company instead concentrates on its electric bus sales in North America.

The rise in sales of electric passenger vehicles is now quite apparent as in the growing number of green-number-plated cars, SUVs and MPVs seen on Indian roads. As per Vahan data as of March 3, 2024, a total of 79,443 electric cars, SUVs and MPVs (LMVs and LPVs) have been sold in the past 11 months (April 2023-February 2024).
