ZeroAvia announced a development collaboration with Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, for a hydrogen-electric powertrain capable of flying 76-seat regional aircraft in excess of 500 NM. capable of transporting 76 passengers. HEFA fuels are produced by reacting vegetable oil or animal fat with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst; the equipment and process are very similar to the hydrotreaters used to reduce diesel sulfur levels in petroleum refineries. JP-8 is a versatile fuel used in military vehicles, stationary diesel engines, and jet aircraft.

Since 2020 Toyota and mining giant BHP have been testing a LandCruiser 70-Series converted to electricity by Tembo e-LV locally. That has since changed as the company turned its focus to its commercial vehicles. But by 2025 he intends to have three more vehicles on-sale including the Alaska ute.
