Mitsui O.S.K. Lines pays $253K to CARB for violating at-berth regulations

California Air Resources Board settles with COSCO Container Lines for $965,000; >2,600 air quality violations from 2014-2017

The violations were discovered during routine audits of the Shanghai-based company’s 2014-2017 fleet visits to the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach and the Port of Oakland. COSCO cooperated with the investigation and met its commitment for exceeding 80% power reductions in 2018.

Matson takes delivery of first dual-fuel Kanaloa-Class con-ro vessel Lurline

Christened Lurline , the new ship is the first of two Kanaloa Class con-ro vessels being built for Matson by NASSCO at a total cost of approximately $500 million for the pair, and the third of four new vessels that Matson is putting into service between 2018 and 2020. New California program to make clean cars affordable for lower-income residents

The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, run by the Oakland-based nonprofit Beneficial State Foundation, was launched with a $5-million CARB grant. To date, Beneficial State Foundation has already received more than 900 applications and awarded 24 grants for cars ranging from a 2018 Nissan Leaf to a 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid.
