The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) announced that gasoline consumption in the state rose 2.4% The rise in fuel consumption signals a strengthening California economy, with cheaper gas prices encouraging more vehicle travel. In FY 14-15, Californians consumed 14.921 billion gallons of gasoline, a 2.4% in FY 13-14.

According to a recent report from Navigant Research, total sales of LDVs are expected to total more than 2.1 billion from 2015 to 2035. Navigant forecasts global annual LDV sales to grow from 88.8 million vehicles in 2015 to 122.6 million in 2035.

GM has offered Saab for sale, and is requesting Swedish government support prior to any sale. GM will have a total of 36 nameplates in 2012, down 25% from 2008 levels. Elements of the new plan include: GM will sell or phase out the Hummer brand by 31 March, with a final resolution no later than 2010. GM Fuel Economy plans.

In 2014, Volkswagen of America announced that starting with the launch of the zero-tailpipe emissions battery-electric 2015 e-Golf ( earlier post ), it would invest in projects to offset the carbon emissions created from the e-Golf on a full lifecycle basis: production, distribution and up to approximately 36,000 miles (57,936 km) of driving.
