The diesel-powered E350 BlueTEC and hydrogen fuel-cell-powered F-Cell will be making their North American debuts at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. liter V6 diesel with 210 hp (157 kW), 400 lb-ft (542 N·m) of torque and approximately 30% better fuel economy than a comparable gasoline engine.

Barnitt (2010) Click to enlarge. FedEx has deployed 20 gasoline hybrid electric vehicles (gHEVs) on parcel delivery routes in the Sacramento and Los Angeles areas. This hybridized, gasoline-fueled vehicle is equipped with a three-way catalyst, which results in very low tailpipe gaseous emissions.

They wanted to see whether an electric vehicle could feed electricity back to the grid. The concept behind V2G had gained traction in the late 1990s after California’s landmark zero-emission-vehicle (ZEV) mandate went into effect and compelled automakers to commercialize electric cars. AC Propulsion’s experiment was timely.

Hyundai is initially offering the Tucson Fuel Cell to customers in the Los Angeles/Orange County region for a 36-month term at $499 per month, with $2,999 down. Hyundai’s position on fuel cell vehicles is that they alleviate the limitations of traditional battery-electric vehicles with respect to range and refueling (recharging) time.

On 11 August, GM invited approximately 75 journalists and auto analysts to spend a day learning about the new GM. The Cadillac Converj extended-range electric vehicle Concept uses the Voltec platform. With CAFE’s renewed emphasis on fuel economy, from 26 mpg in 2010 to 35.5 GM has 11 models available with AFM in 2010.
