The biggest drop was in April 2020 (a reduction of 40% compared with April 2019) followed by a gradual rebound later in the year. In December 2020, the reduction was 11% compared with December 2019. Ford introduced the new 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van. More than 300,000 Transit Connect vehicles have been sold since 2009 when Ford created the segment in the United States. The 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van offers three different engines—including a diesel—capable of running on five different fuels.

The new deployments will bring AT&T’s alternative-fuel fleet to more than 15,000 vehicles by 2019. As technologies evolve, additional alternative-fuel vehicle types will be considered for inclusion. In 2009, AT&T will deploy nearly 800 of the CNG and hybrid electric vehicles.

Although the size of this segment of the population has grown since 2000, personal travel (VMT per capita) by the oldest age group dropped by 7% between 2008 and 2009, and its total VMT dropped by 10%.
