The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that the total inventory of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) in fleets in the US in 2009 was about 826,318, up about 7% from 2008. Gasoline and diesel electric hybrids are not AFVs as defined in the Energy Policy Act of 1992; their predominant fuel source is not an alternative fuel.

Anellotech ’s Bio-TCat technology has achieved commercially-targeted yields in its TCat-8 pilot unit in Silsbee, Texas during six months of continuous process operations. 30,000 tonnes of carbon monoxide (CO) and other by-product gases will also be produced, for use in generating renewable electricity or used for chemical feedstock.
