The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of grant funding to implement projects which reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines. Since the first year of the DERA program in 2008, EPA has competitively awarded more than 850 grants and 450 rebates across the country.

Fred Meyer will receive a total of 40 LNG trucks over the next several months, making Fred Meyer the first in Oregon to deploy a fleet of heavy-duty LNG trucks. and as far north as Longview, Wash. Some of the 40 diesel trucks will be used to replace older, less efficient diesel trucks in the fleet. since 2008.

Duke Energy recently notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) today of plans to suspend its application for two proposed new nuclear units on its Harris site near New Hill in Wake County, North Carolina. Progress Energy Carolinas submitted the combined construction and operating license application to the NRC in February 2008.

Duke Energy and FPL Group will begin this transition in the coming years with the goal that 100% of all new fleet vehicles will be plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) by 2020.
