EPA announces $46M for latest Diesel Emissions Reduction Act funding

Diesel-powered engines move most of the nation’s freight tonnage, and today nearly all highway freight trucks, locomotives, and commercial marine vessels are powered by diesel engines. Region 3 (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia) will accept applications requesting up to $2,500,000 in grant funds.

Navy tests 100-percent CHCJ advanced biofuel in EA-18G

The US Navy has completed flight testing of a 100% advanced biofuel in the EA-18G “Green Growler” at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. CHCJ-5 was developed as a variation of the commercial ReadiJet with the intention to meet the Navy’s JP-5 jet fuel spec and qualification protocols.

Aemetis wins $6M biodiesel supply contract with India Government oil companies

NTSB recommends nationwide ban on personal electronic devices while driving; also calls for modifications to the equipment and the completion of a NHTSA rulemaking on collision warning systems

Further, NTSB said, NHTSA should determine whether equipping commercial vehicles with collision warning systems with active braking and electronic stability control systems will reduce commercial vehicle accidents. If these technologies are determined to be effective in reducing accidents, require their use on commercial vehicles.

DOE Issues RFI on Draft National Algal Biofuels Technology Roadmap

The Algal Roadmap resulted from a two-day Algal Biofuels Technology Roadmap Workshop conducted by DOE 9-10 December 2008 at the University of Maryland. This supports private investments aimed at producing algal biofuels at a commercial scale. Feedback will be incorporated into the finalized draft report for public release.
