In my previous article, Proposed Changes to the Federal EV Tax Credit Passed by the House of Representatives , I outlined and analyzed 13 proposed changes to IRC 30D (federal EV tax credit). But all of these PHEVs have batteries of around 9 kWh and so they could easily be upgraded to 10 kWh to qualify for the tax credit.

The Lyriq will qualify for federal and state tax credits that could reduce the final purchase price, and in many states it qualifies for the coveted car pool stickers allowing the driver, with no passengers, to use the HOV lane. The Lyriq pricing strategy will cause a ripple effect for other premium or luxury SUVs.

In the coming weeks, EVAdoption will release our (for purchase) Q4 and full-year 2021 US EV Sales Report which will include estimated and reported sales for all BEVs and PHEVs with sales in the US in 2021. However, our as of writing estimates for the Model Y and Model 3 are 180,000 and 145,000 deliveries respectively.
