A University of Utah engineer has developed an inexpensive new method to remove oil sheen by repeatedly pressurizing and depressurizing ozone gas, creating microscopic bubbles that attack the oil so it can be removed by sand filters. MRC lists the amount of chemical usage on its website, monitors chemicals in the water table, doesn’t use the herbicide within the watercourse protection zones, and plans to phase out the use of the chemical by 2020. Previously, the fact that these compounds are water-soluble never presented any problems since the Atacama Desert is one of the driest regions in the world. Alternative oxidation processes resulting in more stable and less toxic arsenic 5+ compounds instead of unstable and water-soluble arsenic 3+ compounds are also being considered.

And personally I like better simple solutions. A 220 volt socket like on your water heater or dryer would be better, ad these typically have 40 or 50 amp circuits, so they can deliver 8,000 to 10,000 watts - is this what they mean?
