Today's Junkyard Find is a first-generation B-van, found in a Colorado boneyard. And yet with all the Mystery Machines I've seen on race tracks and at car shows, today's '77 Tradesman is the first Mystery Machine I've documented in a junkyard. The build tag says it was built at St. 1977 Dodge Tradesman 200 in Colorado junkyard.

That made 2007 the final model year for the "real" Taurus, and I've found one of these rare cars in a New Orleans self-service junkyard. The driver's door latch mechanism was broken, so I couldn't take a look at the build tag and see the assembly date for this car (this is a common problem with junkyard vehicles).

Because I spent a great deal of time in self-service junkyards and saw that—at least in California—such places were overflowing with unwanted E30s, I knew they were wrong. 15 years later, though, E30s have become fairly rare in junkyards, so this fairly complete 325es in a Colorado yard caught my eye a few weeks back.

I took a four-day trip to Northern England a couple of weeks ago, primarily to visit one of the only American-style self-service junkyards in the UK. The Brera S was available only in the United Kingdom, and its price tag with the four-cylinder engine was £24,950 (about £38,102 in 2024 pounds, or $48,438 in today's dollars).
