Germany and Namibia form partnership for green hydrogen

Kandjoze of Namibia’s National Planning Commission agreed to establish a hydrogen partnership between Germany and Namibia and signed a Joint Communiqué of Intent (JCoI). The global race for the best hydrogen technologies and the best sites for hydrogen production is already on. Namibia can provide both.

Northern Graphite closes acquisition of two graphite mines; 3rd largest non-Chinese graphite company

Canada-based Northern Graphite Corporation has closed its previously announced acquisition of the producing Lac des Iles graphite mine (LDI) in Québec from a subsidiary of Imerys SA and the Okanjande graphite deposit/Okorusu processing plant in Namibia from a subsidiary of Imerys and its joint venture partner.

Benchmark: Africa’s lithium production to increase >10x this decade; potentially 12% of global supply

However, by 2033 its market share is forecast to triple to 12% of global supply. Last month, Namibia banned the export of unprocessed lithium, cobalt, manganese, graphite and rare earth minerals.

Shell starts production at Vito in US Gulf of Mexico; new, simplified design

Shell Offshore, a subsidiary of Shell plc, has started production at the Shell-operated Vito floating production facility in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Shell reached an FID on Whale in 2021 and is currently scheduled to begin production in 2024. Shell is the leading operator in the US Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas production.
