Where we did much better was on a 110-mile freeway run, in either Eco or Smart mode and with the smart cruise control set at 65 mph, achieving 31.5 In 268 miles driving through Southern California, aided by the idle stop/start, we averaged 23.8 It wasn’t easy, but cracking 30 mpg on the open road was a nice surprise in this size of car.
