Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation will develop a blueprint that reduces maintenance costs and outage time for the current fleet of nuclear reactors.

GEMINA’s goal is to reduce fixed operations and maintenance (O&M) costs from ~13 $/MWh in the current fleet to ~2 $/MWh in the advanced fleet. These GEMINA teams are working to develop tools for the advanced reactors of tomorrow to improve operations and lower maintenance costs by designing more autonomous, and efficient processes.

As gas engine powertrains typically have 100 times the number of parts of an EV powertrain, I have only paid $300 for maintenance: comprising three tire rotations and one cabin air filter, after four years of ownership. I love that my EV is so efficient: EVs convert over 77% of the electrical energy from the grid to power at the wheels.
