36/48 volt. I am leaning towards a golf cart or forklift motor. This is a 24 volt system, and made for flat, hard surfaces. The quadrunner has been stripped of everything ICE, and I have retained what electrical will be needed for lights etc. Golf cart motor ? Motor was lost long ago. Forklift motor?

It’s a series plug-in hybrid like the Chevrolet Volt. Various other companies are currently designing and developing fleets of fully electric emergency vehicles, including golf carts for police and ATVs for search-and-rescue operations. Before Tesla, they were seen as nerdy golf carts, far from usable as “real cars.” Once Tesla started selling the Model S in 2012, EVs became high-tech accessories, signifying drivers’ cutting-edge status as owners of the latest and coolest automotive technology (something the Nissan LEAF or Chevy Volt struggled to convey).

The 914 AC kit uses 8V golf cart batteries and I'm wondering if different batteries like Hawkers or Optima Yellow-Top batteries would be better. Both US-Battery and Trojan have 8-volt golf-cart batteries. This week is packed, so I might get to hooking up the back-up light wiring on the EV if there's time on Friday.

Since traffic is really light on Sunday morning, I drove to work (15 miles away) and back to see how the 914 would handle. I'm not sure how much current these golf cart batteries are designed for. The battery voltage sunk from 152 volts at rest down to 132 volts after awhile during heavy acceleration.

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. It turns out that the positive wire to the horn is also tied directly to the positive terminal of the 12-volt system. Here's the sawed off hood latch. The 914 uses pressure from the spare tire (??!!)

The 8-volt golf cart batteries arrived over 24 days ago and have just been sitting on the garage floor, discharging. The lower charge rate can be plugged into a 15-amp outlet that has a few other light loads attached. This is inside the driver-side fuel compartment looking forward.
