The US Department of Energy (DOE) will invest up to $78 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment in two consortia to support research and development of algae-based and biomass-based bio-hydrocarbon fuels and infrastructure. Co-products include animal feed, industrial feedstocks, and additional energy generation.

USDA’s report identifies numerous biomass feedstocks to be utilized in developing biofuels and calls for the funding of further investments in research and development of: Feedstock; Sustainable production and management systems; Efficient conversion technologies and high-value bioproducts; and.
