developer of a catalytic pyrolysis process to produce renewable rude oil from biomass ( earlier post ), has begun initial shipments of cellulosic diesel from its plant in Columbus, Mississippi. KiOR’s renewable gasoline is the first renewable cellulosic gasoline registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for sale in the US.

KiOR developed a proprietary catalytic process to produce cellulosic gasoline and diesel from lignocellulosic biomass. The biomass-to-cellulosic fuel technology platform combines KiOR’s proprietary catalyst systems with FCC processes that have been used in crude oil refineries to produce gasoline for more than 60 years.

has completed the technical feasibility study for a natural gas to liquids project in Natchez, Mississippi. UPS will add 200 new series hybrid electric delivery trucks to the company’s growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. Equipped with lithium ion batteries and a range-extender engine, these trucks will deliver significant fuel economy equivalency gains, approximately four times the fuel economy of a gasoline powered vehicle.

UPS announced an update to 125 Workhorse E-GEN series hybrid electric delivery trucks that improve fuel economy as part of the company’s broader Rolling Laboratory approach. 4-cylinder engine; charging capability remains the same, as does the electric range. The small ICE could be outfitted for gasoline, propane, or CNG.
