UPS announced the purchase of 130 next-generation hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) to add to its growing alternative-fuel vehicle (AFV) fleet. The 130 hybrids all will be deployed next year, with 30 going to New York and New Jersey and 100 to California. —Mike Britt, UPS’s director of vehicle engineering.

Electrification of medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) vehicles is an important component of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigating climate change. As of December 2022, more than 5,600 electric school buses are in operation, on order or funded. they created about 28% of the automotive sector’s GHG emissions in 2020.
