Li-ion battery maker LG Chem will supply the 16-kWh Li-ion battery pack system and controls for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan. The agreement with FCA US marks the first time LG Chem will engineer and manufacture a complete battery pack in Michigan for a volume production North American PHEV.

South Korea-based SK Energy said it has been chosen as a supplier of lithium-ion batteries for a hybrid electric vehicle project for Daimler commercial vehicle subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso; Daimler holds 85% of Fuso. SK Energy is also in talks with a domestic elective vehicle maker, CT&T [ earlier post ], to sell rechargeable batteries.

The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory and BASF have signed a world-wide licensing agreement to mass produce and market Argonne’s patented composite cathode materials to manufacturers of advanced lithium-ion batteries. and a rechargeable capacity of up to 250 mAh g -1 over the same window. of Japan in 2008.
