Based on the Ford Transit, the Smith Edison is powered by a 90 kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. Edison can typically achieve 80 miles on a full charge, and can be fully recharged in as little as three hours. Smith is one of three companies that are supplying a total of 70 electric LCVs in Phase One.

Bus operator Go-Ahead London has taken delivery of its first Smith electric Edison vans, following a successful month-long trial of the technology. The vans are used as support vehicles for roadside assistance and for distributing spare parts around Go-Ahead London’s locations in the capital.
