Phoenix Motorcars,a manufacturer of medium-duty all-electric buses and trucks, delivered the first of two all-electric medium-duty service trucks to the City of Woodland, California. Phoenix Motorcars collaborated with the City of Woodland to install two dual-cord Level 3 50kW DC fast-charging stations.

PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay North America division will purchase 100 Newton Series 2000 all-electric commercial vehicles in 2012 from Smith Electric Vehicles, bringing the total number of its electric fleet to more than 280. The all-electric trucks are delivery trucks used on urban routes with fewer daily miles.

UPS plans to invest approximately $50 million to build an additional nine liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling stations, bringing the total number of stations to 13. Phoenix, Ariz., UPS began using LNG tractors in its delivery fleet in 2002. Four were announced in April, and all should be operational by the end of 2014.
