Lane Transit District (LTD) in Oregon has awarded New Flyer a contract for 11 Xcelsior CHARGE battery-electric forty-foot heavy-duty transit buses, including seven ABB depot chargers to support electric bus infrastructure development. More than half use electric hybrid propulsion, helping to lower emissions from public transit.

The West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative , a study commissioned by a collaboration among nine electric utilities and two agencies representing more than two dozen municipal utilities, recommends adding electric vehicle charging for freight haulers and delivery trucks at 50-mile intervals along Interstate 5 and adjoining highways.

Coca-Cola Enterprises has ordered 150 Kenworth T370 diesel-electric tractors and 35 Kenworth T370 hybrid trucks, all of which will be on the road this year. San Antonio, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington, DC. Coca-Cola Enterprises operates the largest hybrid truck fleet in North America.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. Total DOE award: $15,000,000.
