70% of the energy from burning fossil fuel is wasted as heat, while only 30% goes to turn your wheels. So after we use all that electricity pumping oil out of the ground, refining it, transporting it, we then waste 70% when we burn it. These cars and trucks have internal combustion engines that are extremely inefficient.

Nuclear waste is a problem much harder to solve than CO2, and dams have quite an impact in the environment. Saving lives through nuclear power. :p p Neutral Elora HRanma @ Apr 20th 2009 8:14AM @catachip: I wouldnt say that hydroelectric or nuclear plants produce 0 emissions. Simply, those are not the main concern for campaigners right now.

Every scrap of waste food, garden trimmings and even sewage would be used to ferment gas. E.ON’s Mr. Ewert says one winning technology could be biogas, which can be fermented from farm and domestic waste or even sewage, and then be piped through existing gas networks. To deal with this major special waste problem has to my knowledge never ever been brought to the attention of the readers of any paper around the world.
