For our EV advocacy, which will benefit Indian cities and the Indian economy in the long run, we have received abuse and personal attacks. In the coming decade, battery prices will go down, whereas the cost of petrol will keep going up. In 2026, you will be able to buy an electric car with 500 km range at decent prices.

Neutral richii @ Apr 19th 2009 5:28PM @ everyone, I can see what your trying to say, that without gas powered vehicles that a much larger strain will be put on electrical facilities that also contribute to air pollution and degrade our environment. The last 5% takes much more time - and so if you have another person behind you, you are not expected to do a full charge. Apart from the price, the only other drawback fo the car is its suspension. The price point is such that the cab operator would have to be charge at least Rs. It was too soft for my liking. 6 lakh per year.

They also blow away the restrictions the investor-owned utilities place on solar and pay rooftop solar power generators a retail price for the extra energy they produce. AND they will help generate tens of thousands of good, local jobs. I’m sure the generous union health insurance will cover all the costs.
