Just a week ago we told you how Subaru is to launch a diesel car in Japan and that it would begin leasing its plug-in STELLA electric vehicle from this summer. The model will be sold in Japan directly through Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, the maker of Subaru cars, with delivery beginning at the end of July.

Better Place has showcased its new battery switch system in Yokohama, Japan, which is designed to make long distance travel by electric vehicle convenient for consumers. The idea is that the Better Place automated battery switch replaces a depleted electric vehicle battery with a fully charged one in just a few minutes.

Suzuki is set to exhibit two new exciting green car concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, a Swift with Plug-in Hybrid system and an SX4 Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV). Further recharging when parked is by means of a domestic plug socket. The FCV is currently under test on public roads in Japan.
